Around the Pala-Group Via the Passo Cereda, Passo Rolle and Passo Valles

 The starting point of this demanding, 58 mile long tour, where 10240 feet in altitude have to be climbed, is Agordo, a north-eastern Italian community in the province of Belluno in Veneto, at 2005 ft above sea level.

Very shortly after leaving the little village the 14 mile long ascent to 4491 ft high Passo di Cereda begins. This lesser known pass with very little traffic is situated in the south-east of the Pala group (Pale di San Martino).

Till we get to the village Gosaldo (3743 ft) the inclines range from single-digits to just dipping into double-digits. Just the last 2 miles to the pass summit get very steep with maximum values of up to 22 %.

The following descent to Tonadico (2418 ft) allows us to regain strength for the following 14 mile long ascent to the Rolle Pass.

Cycling at a relatively consistent ascent of approximately six to eight percent, with the enormous rock massif of the 10446 ft high Cimone della Pala mostly in view, the road curves up to the winter sport resort San Martino di Castrozza (4895 ft) and afterwards further to the pass summit in 6509 ft above sea level.

The next destination is the beautifully situated Passo di Valles at 6667 ft above sea level, which will be reached after further 8 sweat-inducing miles. It is the last and highest pass of this tour.

Beautiful views of this wonderful high mountain landscape are offered on the now following journey via Falcade back to the starting point of this aesthetic tour.
