Product information "Geissler Cycle-Tour"

Starting point of this fantastic, but with a tour length of 66 miles very demanding Dolomites-tour is the roundabout alongside the motorway exit Klausen in South Tyrol at 1818 ft above sea level.

The first steep climb up to Gufidaun (2402 ft) begins after a short stretch of road.

Subsequently we reach the Villnöß-country lane which leads us on a moderate ascent through the Funes valley to St. Peter.

Turning left at a little church, we follow the narrow road which in the beginning is up to 18% steep in many bends towards Würzjoch (6545 ft).

Facing the impressive massif of the 9432 ft high Peitlerkofel and on the right hand side the almost 9925 ft high Geislerspitzen we reach the Kofeljoch (6168 ft) on this beautiful panoramic road.

Approximately 607 ft in altitude and a 2,5 mile long stretch of road have to be overcome before we reach the first pass, the Würzjoch, at 6545 ft above sea level.

The following descent to St. Martin in Thurn (3625 ft) and the remainder of the tour through the Gadertal to Corvara (5010 ft), the world famous winter sport resort, is a welcome rest and gives time to gather strength for the upcoming ascent to the second pass, the Grödnerjoch.

Just after the start of the village the road takes a turn to the Grödnerjoch.

Already seeing the pass summit from a distance we ride in many windings and bends with inclines of between 5% and 11% along the slopes of the Sellastockes on the well-built road up to the pass.

Having arrived on top of the Grödnerjoch at 6959 ft above sea level we can fully enjoy the fantastic view of the rock massifs of the Sella group and the Langkofels on the following long descent through the Grödner valley via Wolkenstein to St. Ulrich and further via  St. Peter up to Lajen.

Again we ride on this high road downhill to Gufidaun and back to the starting point of this wonderful tour.
