Rosenheim Cycle Marathon

The Rosenheim-tour with cycling marathon, which more than a 1000 cyclists of all ages take part in, is organized every year by the RSV Rosenheim and the Ski club Aising-Pang. The main objective of this tour is the joy of cycling through these varied and beautiful foothills of the Alps.

The organizer offers four tours with distances ranging between 39 miles, 66 miles, 99 miles and 135 miles with corresponding difficulty levels.

Our tour covers a distance of almost 71 miles and can be rated as moderately difficult.

We start at the round about at the Ludwigsplatz in Rosenheim.

At first, the stretch of road runs through the city to Großkarolinenfeld and further via Thann and Tattenhausen to Tuntenhausen, the famous place of pilgrimage with its pilgrimage basilica. Here, a 130 year old tradition is maintained. Two times a year, on the last Sunday in April and September respectively, the men´s pilgrimage in Tuntenhausen arrives, which is also attended by high level representatives of Bavarian politics.

Aßling and Emmering are the next villages on this tour, before we reach Rott am Inn. Here in Rott the honorary citizen and former Bavarian minister-president Franz Josef Strauß and his spouse Marianne are buried.

After crossing the Inn we continue our tour via Vogtareuth and alongside the Hofstätter See to Prutting, whilst enjoying the beautiful view of the Bavarian Alps.

The further route leads us via Edling and Ullerting in a bend around the Simssee to Thalkirchen.

Now, the last and more demanding part of this tour begins.

On an approximately 12 mile long stretch of road via Moosen, Söllhuben and Frasdorf to Osterkam record inclines of almost 16 % have to be overcome. The remaining 9 mile long distance, which has to be covered via Immelberg and Riedering to Rosenheim, our destination and starting point of this beautiful tour, are not a real challenge anymore.
