Tuscany - L´Eroica

The Monte Paschi „L´Eroica“ is a cycling event with historic racing bikes that takes place every year in the Chianti area in Tuscany.

The first holding of this event took place in the year of 1977 and reached an attendancy rate of 3000 participants in 2008.

A choice between different routes was possible (23,6 miles, 46,6 miles, 83,9 miles and 127,4 miles).

On this 126 mile long tour we cycle the complete stretch through Tuscany. The topography and condition of the route makes this tour challenging, since almost 50% of the distance consists of "white roads" (strade bianche) which are typical for Tuscany. These roads are gravel roads / farm roads which are partly difficult to cycle on. Furthermore, on the longest route 12 467 ft in altitude with short but strong climbs have to be overcome.

Since 2009 "modern" bikes (constructed later than 1987) are not accepted anymore.

This tour leads us through famous Tuscan villages such as Gaiole in Chianti, Brolio, Pianella, Siena, Radi, Piana, Castell del Bosco, Montalcino, Pieve, Asciano, Monte S. Marie, Castelnuovo, Radda in Chianti.
