Product information "Scenic roads in the Puster Valley From Mühlbach to St. Vigil/Enneberg"

Mühlbach, a small idyllic South Tyrolean village in Italy at the entrance of the Puster Valley at 2500ft above sea level is the starting point of this beautiful late autumn tour.

On this 38.5mile long stretch of road 7047 feet in altitude have to be overcome.

The 5mile long and winding ascent to Meransen, a dispersed village with approximately 850 inhabitants, which is situated at a height of 4600ft begins very shortly after the start.

Enjoying a beautiful view, we now ride on the Panorama Trail to the highest point of this tour at 5020ft and afterwards on a narrow, quiet road along the slopes of the Gitschberg back downhill to Vintl (2474ft).

We now follow the scenic Pustertaler Sonnenstraße (Puster Valley Sun Road) up to Terenten, a municipality that lies on a plateau in the lower Puster Valley at 4131ft above sea level.

Terenten is often described as the Sun Village because it has the highest exposure to sunlight among the South Tyrolean municipalities: in winter from 08:00a.m. till 04:00p.m. and in summer from 04:00a.m. till 08:00p.m.

Hofern, Issing and Pfalzen are the next villages as we continue down to Bruneck, the principal town in the Puster Valley, situated at 2743ft above sea level. Despite the altitude, Bruneck is the fifth largest city of South Tyrol, with more than 15.000 inhabitants. Here in the Puster Valley, which runs East-West, you will find the confluences of both the south-flowing Tauferer Ahrntal with the slightly off-north-flowing Gadertal and the mountain river Ahr joining the Rienz.

The way ahead leads us via St. Lorenzen to St. Martin and afterwards on a quiet, narrow side road whilst enjoying a beautiful view to the destination of our tour today, St. Vigil in the South Tyrolean municipality of Enneberg at 4032ft above sea level.
