Beautiful views of the extensive hilly landscape; over the rolling hills with an open view to the Alps; homely villages with farmhouses straight out of a picture book; grand churches and chapels: to put it briefly, a landscape to fall in love with!
The recreational area of Percha, an urban district of Starnberg, is the starting point of this amazing tour.
Over a stretch of 80 miles, 9163 feet in altitude have to be bested.
On mostly narrow and quiet side roads we pass castle Berg, a former summer residence of Ludwig II., to Aufkirchen with its pilgrimage church, visible from afar.
Münsing and Holzhausen in the upper Bavarian administrative district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen are the next villages on this mountain range stretching north-south, nestled in these beautiful foothills of the Alps, where, on days with a Föhn wind, the Zugspitze and the Wetterstein provide a picturesque setting.
Passing castle Eurasburg, the route now leads us via Beuerberg with its monastery and further via Bad Heilbrunn, a climatic health-resort since 2005, into the principal town Bad Tölz.
Bad Tölz became famous because of the ˮTölzer Sängerknaben“ (The Tölz Choir Boys) and the TV-series ˮDer Bulle von Tölz“ (The Cop from Tölz), as well as the annual ˮTölzer Leonhardifahrt“ (a procession) outside of Bavaria.
From Bad Tölz we continue north via Ellbach, Hechenberg and Attenham to Großdingharting.
Here we turn off and ride downhill to the Isar Valley to Kloster Schäftlarn and further on winding roads up to Ebenhausen.
On a scenic stretch of road, via Icking, Aufkirchen and Berg, we reach Percha once again, the starting point of this relatively moderate but long tour.
