Three Lakes Tour - Mond-, Atter- and Wolfgangsee

The village Mondsee (1601 ft), situated at the lake of the same name in Upper Austria, is the starting point of this 48 mile long and with 3445 ft in altitude moderate tour.

Whilst enjoying the beautiful view over the lake Mondsee, we cycle the first 5 miles on an almost even stretch of road alongside the western bank to Scharfling (1579 ft).

Here we cross the federal state boundary to the Land Salzburg and follow the 1 mile long steepening road up to the Scharflinger Höhe (1969 ft),  where inclines of more than 10% have to be overcome.

Shortly afterwards we reach Sankt Gilgen (1788 ft) at the world renowned Lake Wolfgang, where we cycle alongside the scenic western bank via Gschwendt and Aigen till we come to the spa town of Bad Ischl (1555 ft).

The way ahead leads us almost 5 miles alongside the river Traun till we reach a junction where we follow the road sign to Weißenbach am Attersee.

During the first 3 miles of this section almost 427 ft in altitude with inclines of up to 11% have to be overcome.

Having arrived in Weißenbach (1565 ft), we veer left and follow the B152 alongside the scenic bank of the Attersees to Unterach am Attersee.

After a short ascent we then speedily carry on cycling on an even stretch of road to the southern bank of the beautifully situated Mondsee.

Here the last section of the route begins!
Merely the last 7 miles of cycling have to be overcome, mainly alongside the shore of the lake, until we reach our starting point in Mondsee again.
