Mittenwald – Seefeld Cycling Tour

Besides the beautiful landscape, the attractions in Mittenwald are the two tarns Lautersee and Ferchensee, the Lüftl- Paintings (facade paintings) on the houses, the Catholic church of St. Peter and St. Paul, as well as the Violin Making Museum and the Museum of Local History.  

The tour leads us on a narrow and quiet side road into the beautiful Leutaschtal in North Tyrol, in Austria, with its 24 districts stretching out for more than 10 miles over the sunny plateau, in front of beautiful mountain scenery.

On an almost level stretch of road we now ride through little villages to Gasse (3678ft) and Buchen (4177ft). On the outskirts of the village, the route then runs steeply downwards to the B-road L36 at 2890ft above sea level, which, coming from Seefeld-in-Tirol, leads to Telfs in the district of Innsbruck. 

We veer left and follow the L36 beginning with inclines of 9% - 12% with the 5 mile long and sweat-inducing ascent to Mösern.

Seefeld, a place of pilgrimage since the 14th century, Winter Olympic venue and home of Anton Selos, an Austrian ski racer and skiing instructor, who invented the parallel turn, is the next village on our tour. 

Approximately 23 miles on a moderate and scenic stretch of road are left before we once more reach Mittenwald, our starting point in Werdenfelser Land.
